Course Objectives

• To develop a comprehensive understanding of Home Science concepts related to nutrition, health, family resource management, and human development.
• To prepare competent teachers capable of teaching Home Science effectively at the secondary level.

Pedagogy & Teaching Methodology

The programme adopts a practical, activity-based, and experiential approach to teaching Home Science. Student-teachers are trained to use demonstrations, hands-on activities, projects, charts, models, and real-life examples to make lessons engaging and meaningful. Emphasis is placed on experiential learning, skill development, and application of knowledge to everyday life situations.

Trainees learn to design effective lesson plans, prepare instructional materials, conduct practical sessions, and apply continuous evaluation techniques. The programme also integrates modern teaching tools and digital resources to enhance understanding. Through micro-teaching sessions, demonstration classes, and supervised teaching practice in schools, students gain real classroom experience and develop confidence in teaching practical subjects.
