Course Objectives

• To develop a comprehensive understanding of historical events, movements, civilizations, and cultural developments.
• To prepare competent teachers who can present history as an engaging, meaningful, and analytical subject.
• To cultivate critical thinking, interpretation, and historical reasoning skills among student-teachers.
• To train future educators in effective pedagogical approaches for teaching history at the secondary level.

Pedagogy & Teaching Methodology

The programme adopts an interactive, analytical, and student-centered approach to history teaching. Trainees are trained to use storytelling techniques, timelines, historical maps, visual sources, documentaries, group discussions, and project-based learning to make historical content vivid and understandable.

Emphasis is placed on inquiry-based learning, interpretation of primary and secondary sources, and connecting historical events with contemporary contexts. Student-teachers learn to design effective lesson plans, use teaching aids, encourage discussion, and apply continuous evaluation techniques. Teaching practice sessions, demonstration classes, and school internships provide real classroom experience, helping trainees develop confidence and professional teaching skills.
