Course Objectives

• To develop a strong understanding of physical and human geography concepts relevant to secondary education.

Pedagogy & Teaching Methodology

The programme follows an interactive, activity-based, and field-oriented approach to teaching geography. Student-teachers are trained to use maps, globes, atlases, charts, models, and digital tools such as geographic visualizations to make geographical concepts clear and engaging. Emphasis is placed on experiential learning, field observations, project work, and real-life applications of geographical knowledge.

Trainees learn to design effective lesson plans, conduct demonstrations, use teaching aids, and apply evaluation techniques that enhance student understanding. The course also introduces modern educational technologies and multimedia resources to strengthen visualization of geographical processes. Through micro-teaching sessions, demonstration classes, field activities, and supervised teaching practice in schools, students gain practical experience and develop confidence in delivering geography lessons.
